Tina Randolph is a local hair stylist who’s now a nursing student.

It’s all thanks to winning the Jean Griswold Summer National Caregiver Scholarship, a prestigious scholarship that is highly competitive.

We sat down with Randolph who tells us, her great grandmother was a big part of what started her journey to becoming a nurse.

Her plan is to complete a certified nursing assistant course and then work her way up to becoming a registered nurse.

She wants to use her skills to later help the community.

Dover’s Randolph preparing for Act II, chasing CNA degree

Tina Randolph, 47, will be pursuing her long-time goal of earning a nursing degree as a Griswold scholarship will allow the Dover resident and caregiver to attend Delaware Technical Community College in Dover this fall.

Griswold, a leading non-medical home care franchise with over 170 locations, recently announced the winners of its National Caregiver Scholarship Program in partnership with its non-profit organization, the Jean Griswold Foundation. This initiative is part of Griswold’s commitment to enhancing the field of caregiving and supporting those who devote their lives to providing essential in-home care.

Griswold caregiver Juanna Elliot is one of 14 scholarship recipients who has chosen to pursue further education to provide more specialized care.

Tracy Grubbs, a caregiver for Griswold Home Care for Sussex & Kent Counties, was chosen as a recipient of one of the 13 scholarships awarded nationwide this year. Grubbs has been with Griswold for over five years and has extensive caregiving experience.

The pandemic led to a massive shortage of caregivers across the country, but now The Jean Griswold Foundation is trying to change that by handing out scholarships. FOX 10's Steve Nielsen introduces us to a Valley woman who got one.

Casey Hart, a Worton-based caregiver, was recently awarded $3,000 from the Griswold National Caregiver Scholarship Program. After facing her own health crisis in 2020, Hart gained a deeper understanding of her clients' needs and intends to use the scholarship to pursue an RN nursing degree.

In celebration of founder Jean Griswold’s birthday, Jean Griswold Foundation has awarded $44,200 in scholarship funds to 18 caregivers across the country, designed to enhance training, certification and degree advancement within the field.

The Jean Griswold Foundation’s 2023 National Caregiver Scholarship program aims to award $100,000, more than quadrupling 2022’s total of $24,000. With the increased funding, more caregivers will be able to receive the financial support needed to advance their careers.

When Maryanne Murray first joined the Griswold Home Care family over 20 years ago under the leadership of Dr. Jean Griswold herself, she quickly learned a valuable lesson: "If you care about the people — the caregivers and clients — you will be a success." This caring attitude was repeated daily by Jean, and by leading with love, Murray says she quickly found her calling in helping seniors stay safely in their homes.

The foundation will be awarding five scholarships annually of up to $2,000 to deserving caregivers who wish to further their education in a care-related field. Applicants do not have to be associated with Griswold Home Care, and the funds will be paid directly to the institution where the caregiver will be receiving education.

Griswold Home Care recently announced that the company’s prestigious Integrity Award will be named after Maryanne Murray, former owner of the Griswold Home Care offices in Lewes and Wilmington.
